An example on the news of using ASL for an autistic child (3:17)

I feel that it is important to note that although the child featured in this segment is deaf, this shows that sign language can be used to help foster forms of communication for anyone who needs it. In this case, the child does not learn sign to speak vocally, but in other cases that is the end goal. Sign language had been implemented at the Cornerstone Autism Center, which means that such practice is likely being used for hearing children as well.
